Simple Skincare Recommendations

Happy April! Don't you just love this time of year? Flowers are blooming, everything is green again, Easter is upon us which means dresses, brunch, and church... oh wait, things are a little different this year! I love spring so much, even though my allergies go crazy during this time of year, but I'm not going to let all of the chaos of the current state of our world bring me down too much during one of my absolute favorite seasons, and I hope you won't either! I encourage you to still bring out those pastel pillows, faux florals, and wear an Easter dress. Although we may not be able to spend our time visiting Hobby Lobby and picking out the perfect spring decor, we can use it to focus on our health and well-being. An easy way to achieve this is by amping up your skincare routine! By "amping up" I don't mean ordering the fanciest, most expensive skincare line that some celebrity recommended on a commercial, but instead creating your signature routine with a mix of drugstore and high-end products.

I like to keep things simple when it comes to my makeup, hair, skincare, and shower routines. Sometimes I may switch it up and add an extra step if I want to pamper myself a little more, but typically I like to keep things the same, which my skin appreciates. Today I want to share with you a list of my favorite skincare products that I have ever used. Some of them I am currently using, and some are things I have tried and loved in the past and still highly recommend. It has taken me years to find the right balance of products for my skin. I have discovered that I have combination + slightly sensitive skin and need gentle, fragrance free products that don't clog my pores. I have also found that I almost always could use a good scrub to help when removing makeup, which unfortunately does clog my pores, primarily around my nose. I am not a dermatologist or skin expert so I cannot recommend what you will need to use on your face, but I can tell you about my skin and what I have enjoyed using over the years. I hope you will be able to create or add to your current skincare routine using my recommendations. I have listed my favorite products below. I have tried and loved all of these, but have narrowed it down to my simple routine, which I will share at the end of this post.

Eye Makeup Remover Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water // My go-to eye makeup remover. I pour a few drops onto a cotton pad and swipe over my eyes until everything is gone. I prefer this over makeup wipes!

Philosophy Purity facial cleanser // A simple, gentle, clean, fragrance free cleanser that is super soothing to the skin. This is what I would recommend to my fellow sensitive skin gals! I can't say enough good things about this cleanser.

TULA skincare The Cult Classic purifying face cleanser (probiotics and superfoods) // A gel cleanser that is worth the hype! I personally stopped using it because of its slight fragrance and my sensitivity, but it is still amazing!

Clinique Moisture Surge // My favorite gel moisturizer. This is perfect for summer and sensitive skin. It is light yet super hydrating. I have repurchased for years! Fragrance free.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ // My go-to in the winter and most recent favorite. Extra hydrating, perfect for night time, and fragrance free (a win!). This leaves my skin extra glowy.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk moisturizing cream // Very gentle and light moisturizer. Great for sensitive skin!

TULA skincare 24-7 moisture hydrating day and night cream (probiotics and superfoods) // Super hydrating cream that is really great for night time, but not fragrance free. It's just personal preference!

St. Ives Acne Control Apricot Scrub // An oldie but a goodie drugstore exfoliator. I use a tiny bit of this in the shower before I get out and moisturize. A little bit is all you need because you don't want to be too harsh on your skin.

Murad Resurgence Rapid Collagen Infusion // This stuff makes my skin feel so plump and healthy! I apply it before my moisturizer at night.

dr. brandt No More Baggage eye de-puffing gel // I have no words. Seriously speechless over this stuff! This stuff WORKS! You can feel it tightening the skin under your eyes. It wakes you up and basically gives you at-home filler. It's crazy. Buy it. You WON'T regret it!

Burt's Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment // I am so obsessed with this stuff that I have actually started using it as my daily lip balm. I carry it with me everywhere. Extremely moisturizing and perfect for applying after a lip scrub like my favorite Lime Sugar Lip Scrub from Basin which you can purchase here.

Freeman Rejuvenating cucumber + pink salt clay mask // Drugstore face mask that brightens my skin.

Freeman Hydrating glacier water + pink peony gel cream mask // Cooling and hydrating gel mask perfect for finishing off a pamper night.

Freeman Anti-Stress dead sea minerals clay mask // Cooling 10 minute mask that calms the skin.

My simple skincare routine: 1. Remove eye makeup with Garnier micellar cleansing water and a cotton pad. 2. Apply Freeman Rejuvenating cucumber + pink salt clay mask while in shower. 3. Rinse mask at end of shower and exfoliate with a tiny bit of St. Ives Acne Control Apricot Scrub.

4. When I get out of the shower I will apply the Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion. This stuff really plumps up my skin and has made it look much healthier since I have started using it.

5. I will then apply the Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizing lotion+.

6. Finally, I will exfoliate my lips using the Basin Lime Sugar lip scrub and apply my Burt's Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment.

That's it! I hope y'all enjoyed learning about my favorite skincare products and were able to pick some out for yourself!
