Happy Wellness Wednesday, friends! I hope your week is going well. Today I wanted to chat about essential oils and how I have started using them in the shower. Before we get started I wanted to give a little disclaimer that no, I do not sell essential oils. I simply just love them! If you have been following me for a while you may have noticed that I use them in my diffuser, household cleaner, hand soap, in roll-on form, and now in my body wash and in the shower! Also, you don't have to use Young Living to get the experience that I am describing. Any essential oil that you prefer will do.
Do you ever crave an at-home spa night to yourself? I know I do! The perfect addition to your long hot shower is a few drops of essential oils. Last night I chose to do 5 drops of cedarwood, 5 drops of pine, and 5 drops of northern lights black spruce. It was the warmest most heavenly shower! You could use lemon and lavender, just lavender itself, or even some citrus oils. Just create a blend that works for you! I dropped mine into a little soap shelf that I have in my shower, but you could put it on a cotton pad or washcloth and put it in the corner. Just make sure it doesn't come into direct contact with the water, because that will defeat the purpose! Allowing the steam to work its magic is the perfect way to utilize oils in the shower.
I (very) recently switched from my Bath & Body Works shower gel to the Young Living bath and shower gel base. What I love about this new-to-me product is that I can create my own custom scents! I personally chose to just add lavender essential oil, but you could create a beautiful blend if you wanted something more unique. YL also sells pre-made shower gels and hand soaps if you wanted to opt for those. I am always on the hunt for clean, non-toxic products. If you have any suggestions for a clean shampoo, please let me know!
I hope you will test out an essential oil shower and let me know what you think! You could make it a special thing that you only do when you want to have a self care night, or make it an everyday thing! I'm thinking I'll start doing this nightly. It's incredibly calming and makes me feel like I'm at a spa! I'll see you Monday for another blog post. Have a great rest of your week!
